Mission Statement
The UIC Environment Health and Safety Office (EHSO) mission is to promote and ensure a safe and healthy environment to support the University's academic, administrative, and research functions.
- EHSO aims to provide high-quality services in biological safety, environmental compliance, fire safety, hazardous waste management, hospital safety, industrial hygiene, laboratory safety, laser safety, occupational safety, radiation safety, and research safety.
- EHSO professionals aim to provide training courses to faculty, staff, visitors, and students to ensure safe work practices are integrated into the University's academic and administrative pursuits.
We are dedicated to reducing injuries, accidents, and negative environmental impacts while supporting the UIC community to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and standards. We aim to provide comprehensive workplace evaluations as we build a safety culture to ensure that students, faculty, and staff can work and research at their best.
