Title: Initial BSL-3 Training Course
Description: This course is required for researchers who want to conduct research with Risk Group (RG) 3 infectious agents, such as SARS-CoV-2, Mycobacterium tuberculosis or any other requiring BSL-3 containment. Previous BSL-3 experience or two years of RG2 infectious agent experience is highly recommended.

- Access Control, Disinfectant, Biosafety Cabinet, Sharps Safety, Waste management, Signs and Labels, Autoclave Procedures and Maintenance, Emergency Responses, Emergency Spill control, Laboratory Inspection
- PPE: PAPR (Personal Air Particulate Respirator)
- Entry and Exit Procedures
- Medical Surveillance Plan
- Facility Decontamination and Re-certification
- Compliance Requirement
- Transport and Transfer of Hazardous Biological Materials
- Laboratory operations and preventative maintenance

- Up-to-date Bloodborne Pathogen and Needlestick Prevention training (online module or classroom)
- Autoclave training (online)
- Biosafety Cabinet training (online)
- Up-to-date Introduction on Receiving Hazardous Materials training (online)
- Up-to-date IATA 6.2 Infectious Substances and Dry Ice Shipping training (online classroom)

Title: Annual BSL-3 refresher training
Description: This course is required for existing BSL-3 researchers who have already completed all the trainings but need an annual refresher on the facility operation and BSL3 SOPs. In addition to the updated facility SOP presentation, BSL-3 researchers are expected to give feedback on current facility conditions and contribute to discussions about ways to improve the BSL-3 community safety and well-being.

Duration: 1.5 hours

- Annual Health Clearance letter from the UHS
- BSL3 PPE entry/exit training
- BSL3 Hands-on training
- Up-to-date Laboratory Safety training (online)
- Up-to-date Bloodborne Pathogen and Needlestick Prevention training (online)
- Up-to-date Introduction to Receiving Hazardous Materials (online)
- Up-to-date IATA 6.2 Infectious Substances and Dry Ice Shipping training (online classroom)
