Fire Extinguisher Training

Introduction

The following instructions are for accessing the UIC/EHSO on-line training.

Fire Extinguisher Training – This course will inform workers on how to distinguish between the different types of fire classes, outline the inspection and maintenance requirements of fire extinguishers, and explain how to properly use a fire extinguisher to put out a fire.

Time Commitment

The course will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. If you cannot complete the course in one session, you may log in at a later time using the same user name and continue with course.

Rules

  • A score of 80% is required for passing.
  • Should a user fail the exam the exam may be taken more than once.
  • Please DO NOT attempt to take the quiz without first viewing the entire course.

Getting Started

Complete the following steps to register for and access the Online training course.

  1. Go to https://uic.scishield.com
  2. Login in with your University NetID and Password
  3. Select Training
  4. Select Course Directory
  5. Select Fire Extinguisher Training
  6. Click on Launch Course
  7. Complete the Course
  8. The course has built-in questions as you proceed through the topics.  Complete the questions and click on Submit Responses
  9. Once the course has been completely reviewed, the system will indicate that the course has been completed and you’ll be able to take a quiz to receive a training certificate for the course.

Verification of Training 

Following the successful completion of the course, the SciShield Database will generate a certificate of completion. You will be able to print this certificate. The database will store a digital record of the completed training and a copy of the certificate for later use.
